CARE Space

The Center for Academic Resources in Engineering (CARE) aspires to bring useful tools to Grainger library for students use.  Currently available for use 24 hours a day starting Sundays at 10 AM until the close of the library Fridays at midnight.  Saturday hours are 10 AM to midnight.

CARE Tutoring Space

Location: North Alcove of West Wing 4th Floor of Grainger Library 

Students can stop by for individual tutoring in the North Alcove in the West Wing on the 4th Floor.  There are no appointments for tutoring! Check the schedule to see when a course you would like tutoring in is offered and stop by!

Center for Academic Resources in Engineering (CARE) at Grainger Engineering Library

Multipurpose Rooms – Rooms 429 & 433

Location: Central north end of 4th Floor Grainger Library

Staying true to its name, the multipurpose rooms are used for a variety of programs throughout the year.  Supported study halls are hosted here, where students can work together on homework and practice problems and have a CARE tutor to help them if they get stuck.  TAM 210/211/212/251/335 and Math 231 office hours are hosted here along with a number of student organizations hosting tutoring hours in these rooms.

CARE-Group Study Rooms – Rooms 401-404

Location: West Wing 4th Floor of Grainger Library 

Reserved only by College of Engineering students & staff, these study rooms have a table that seats 8, an Engineering Work Station, a white board, and a 50-inch monitor that can connect to personal laptops.
These rooms may be reserved as soon as 24-48 hours before use and reservations may be made weeks or months in advance. To make a reservation, visit: : http://www.library.illinois.edu/enx/

Grainger-Group Study Rooms – Rooms 405-415

Location: West Wing 4th Floor of Grainger Library 

Reserved by any University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign student, staff, and faculty member, these study rooms have a white board and table for group seating.  Rooms 405-411 can seat up to 4 people and rooms 412-415 can seat up to 8.
These rooms are reserved on a first come, first serve basis up to 14 days in advance by any faculty, staff or student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, using their @illinois.edu email account.  To make a reservation, visit: http://www.library.illinois.edu/enx/

Open Study Space

Location: Center of West Wing 4th Floor Grainger Library and Center of 4th Floor Grainger Library

The open study spaces are available for general use.  There are power pods at each table to plug in laptops, tablets, and phones.  Occasionally, these areas are used for larger CARE events, like the Majors and Minors Fair.

Writing Surfaces

Locations:
Glass boards: North and South Alcoves in West Wing 4th Floor of Grainger Library
Glass partitions: South End of Center of 4th Floor Grainger Library

4 glass boards & 6 double sided frosted glass partitions are available for independent or group use.  Dry erase markers and erasers are available at the Circulation Desk on the first floor.

Collaboration Tables

Locations: Rooms 408 and 410 on 4th Floor Grainger Library and in Basement of Grainger Library

There are two collaboration tables that each have a 32” flat screen, HD monitor.  Between one and six students are able to plug into the monitor, to share the screen to collaborate on group projects.  Students are able to switch whose computer appears on the monitor with just a click of a button.

Engineering Computer Work Station (EWS Lab)

Location: Central area of 4th Floor Grainger Library, 4th Floor-East Wing,  and in various College of Engineering buildings

The Engineering Computer Work Station (EWS Lab) is reserved for engineering student use only.  A list of programs available on these computers can be found by visiting:
